Licht ins Dunkel (German for “light into the dark”) is the biggest humanitarian aid campaign in Austria. It includes numerous individual campaigns and events and culminates in an annual telethon on Christmas Eve.
On 6 November 2014, Federal President Heinz Fischer opened the 42nd edition of the “Licht ins Dunkel” campaign in the Hofburg. Conchita Wurst received a Sacher torte from the Federal President, as the campaign kicked off on her 26th birthday.
For the second time, a CD with contributions by prominent Austrian artists who support “Licht ins Dunkel” was presented in the Funkhaus Vienna (ORF) on 3 December 2014.
Conchita Wurst presented the song “My Lights”, contributing the title song to the campaign. She was accompanied by the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna. Parts of the concert were broadcast on Austrian television on Christmas Eve during the annual telethon.
