The Amadeus Austrian Music Awards is the annual awards ceremony for excellence in the Austrian music industry. It has been awarded to the most successful Austrian musicians since 2000, and is the Austrian equivalent to the Grammys.

Conchita Wurst, twice ‘Artist of the Year’ (2015 & 2016), hosted this year’s gala for the first time. She also performed a cover version of Falco’s “Rock Me Amadeus” as the opening number of the gala, which was broadcast live on national television (ORF) from the “Volkstheater” in Vienna.
