Homage to Udo Jürgens

On 16 December 2015, a charity concert took place in the Wiener Stadthalle for the 20th anniversary of the Integrationshaus. The Integrationshaus was founded in 1995 and has since been an essential part of support for refugees and people seeking asylum in Vienna.

In a homage to Udo Jürgens on the occasion of the first anniversary of his death on 21 December 2014, several Austrian musicians interpreted his songs. Udo Jürgens won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1966 and was the most popular entertainer in the entire German-speaking area until his death.

Conchita Wurst performed the song ‘Walk Away’. With the originally German version ‘Warum nur, warum’, Udo Jürgens competed for Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen in 1964 and reached 6th place. The gala was broadcast as part of the regional program of ORF Vienna during the ‘Licht ins Dunkel’ telethon on Christmas Eve 2015.
