Merci, Udo!

In the German TV show ‘Merci Udo – Deutschland sagt Danke’ [Engl.: ‘Germany says Thank You’], presenter Barbara Schöneberger looked back on the eventful career of the late Udo Jürgens and presented his 30 most popular hits that were determined in a representative survey in Germany.

Udo Jürgens won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1966 and was the most popular entertainer in the entire German-speaking area until his death.

Conchita Wurst performed his song ‘Walk Away’ . With the originally German version ‘Warum nur, warum’, Udo Jürgens competed for Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen in 1964 and reached 6th place.

The show was recorded on 2 November 2016 in Hürth-Kalscheuren and broadcast on 2 December 2016.
