The Story of Fire Saga

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga” is a 2020 American musical comedy film. Starring Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams, the film follows Icelandic singers Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdóttir as they are given the chance to represent their country at the Eurovision Song Contest. The film was released on 26 June 2020 on Netflix.

During the musical part called “Song-A-Long”, several ESC participants performed: John Lundvik (Sweden, 2019), Anna Odobescu (Moldova, 2019), Bilal Hassani (France, 2019), Loreen (Sweden, winner of 2012), Jessy Matador (France, 2010), Alexander Rybak (Norway, 2009 winner and 2018 participant), Jamala (Ukraine, 2016 winner), Elina Netšajeva (Estonia, 2018), Netta (Israel , 2018 winner) and Conchita Wurst (Austria, 2014 winner). They sing “Believe” from Cher, “Ray of Light” from Madonna, “Waterloo” from ABBA, “Ne partez pas sans moi” from Celine Dion and “I Gotta Feeling” from The Black Eyed Peas.

Salvador Sobral (Portugal, 2017 winner) appeared as a street musician with “Amar pelos dois”, while Graham Norton was seen as a commentator for the ESC. Filming took place in Great Britain (Glasgow and Edinburgh) and Iceland. All music recordings were made on the stage of the ESC 2019 in May 2019. The Knebworth House served as the outside backdrop for Alexander’s house, where the “Song-A-Long” happens in the film.
